FCIA Module 1

The FCIA modules are a core educational requirement toward achieving the Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) designation.

FCIA Module 1 focuses on actuarial work and applications, introducing registrants to the broader professional environment in which actuaries operate. It builds on prior academic and associate‑level education and supports the transition to advanced professional responsibilities expected of FCIAs.

The modules are designed to complement FCIA‑level examinations by developing professional competencies essential for actuarial practice in Canada. They are administered online via D2L Brightspace, a learning management system.

Together, the modules support the development of the professional actuarial competencies required of FCIAs in Canada. Holders of this designation have the knowledge, judgment and professionalism needed to apply actuarial principles in complex, real‑world settings.
