ACIA Module 2
The ACIA modules are a core educational requirement toward achieving the Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (ACIA) designation. ACIA Module 2 applies theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios through graded assignments, a case study and quizzes, all of which must be successfully completed to pass the module.
The modules bridge CIA-accredited university education, or education obtained through other actuarial organizations, with the work environment. They are administered online via D2L Brightspace, a learning management system, and focus on applying knowledge acquired through a recognized university degree or other associate-level education.
Together, the modules support the development of the professional actuarial competencies required of ACIAs in Canada. Holders of this designation have the knowledge to identify, evaluate and analyze risk, along with the technical, communication and business skills outlined in our education syllabus.

There are no formal prerequisites for the ACIA modules. Participants in Pathway 1 are encouraged to take ACIA Module 2 toward the end of their university degree.
The participant is responsible for confirming that the appropriate knowledge has been acquired.
A CIA Student or Candidate membership is required to register for CIA educational activities. If you are not a member, complete the free orientation module and apply to become a Student or Candidate member today.
There is no deadline to register for ACIA Module 2. Participants will have six months from the date of registration to complete the module.
Cancellation and refund policy
Cancellation requests submitted after registration but before logging in to the platform may be eligible for a refund. Send cancellation requests to education@cia-ica.ca. Refunds are subject to a $100 administrative fee.
