Personal Injury Boot Camp

October 15, 2026
12:00-17:00

Attendance is limited to eight participants.

This event will be offered in English. Facilitators will be available to answer questions in both English and French.

This event will be held in person.

This boot camp is designed for actuaries who are new to actuarial evidence (AE) practice, are preparing to enter the field or have limited experience with personal injury and wrongful death files. Program content will be tailored to fit the experience level of registrants.

Participants will gain practical insights into personal injury litigation, explore approaches to different types of files and identify opportunities to strengthen their expertise. Through case studies and group discussions, attendees will examine pecuniary loss calculations in a range of scenarios and discuss effective ways to communicate expert opinions.

The afternoon will provide an opportunity to ask experienced AE practitioners questions about personal injury work and the practical aspects of running an AE practice!

The boot camp takes place the day before the Actuarial Evidence Seminar at the same venue. Participants who register for the boot camp will receive a 20% discount on the AE Seminar registration fee.

Who should attend:

CIA members (ACIA or FCIA) who are interested in entering the AE practice area or have recently begun practising in the field. To support an open and supportive learning environment, registration is limited to individuals whose experience preparing personal injury reports is best described as none to minimal.

Level of expertise: Program content will be adapted to the experience of registrants. Depending on participants' backgrounds, the session may focus on introductory concepts, skill refinement or a combination of both.
